The Forgotten Billion: MDG Achievement in the Drylands

Available here.

Drylands, which are home to a third of all humanity, have some of the highest levels of poverty. In many countries these areas also have a long history of neglect by investment and sustainable development interventions, having been marginalised from both development processes and political discourse. This marginalisation cannot continue. In our increasingly globalised and interconnected world, drylands are important to us all for climatic, economic and geopolitical reasons.

This publication highlights the development challenges faced by people who live in drylands and outlines how these challenges can be tackled successfully, so helping to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, or MDGs.
